FACTS THAT MATTER 135,000 A company is defined by its people, and EADS has some of the best. Nearly 135,000 individuals are working for us all over the world, and we support many more jobs in related industries. We value our people and give them the support they need to in turn make us one of the world's most successful aerospace and defence companies. EUR 29,000,000,000 Innovation is the lifeblood of EADS, and strong commitment to investing in new technologies has led to the development of a host of success ful products like the Airbus A380, Ariane 5 launcher or Eurofighter Typhoon. EADS has invested more than EUR 29,000,000,000 in research and development since its foundation. With product life cycles exceeding 30 years, sustainability is one of EADS' main concerns when designing and marketing products. We spend 80% of our total aeronautics research budget on 'green' tech nologies, working hard to maximise resources while minimising our impact on the world around us. As a leader in aerospace, defence and related services, EADS oper ates across the globe, in every continent - in fact, in more than 170 locations worldwide. EADS brings together businesses that are market leaders in their own right, forming a group driven by a single vision, a vision that unites companies like the globally leading aircraft manufacturer, Airbus; the world's largest helicopter supplier, Eurocopter; Europe's leader in space programmes, Astrium; and Cassidian, a worldwide leader in global defence and security solutions.

Creating a global perspeCtive. eaDs has strong european roots, but the aerospace and defence industry is truly global and we export around 75% of our products and services. More than 50% of our revenues come from outside our traditional home markets in europe. We are proud of our european heritage although today we see our business as having three distinct pillars of operation - europe, of course, the Us, where we support some 200,000 jobs, and the emerging countries, where there are opportunities to expand with local industries. our international culture is a source of great pride. the nearly 135,000-strong eaDs workforce already includes people from many different countries and backgrounds and we aim to have 20% of employees and 40% of sourcing Headquarters Head Offices Representative Offices based outside europe by 2020. this won't happen by simply relocating jobs but instead will be a result of additional growth generation in other countries as eaDs continues to invest in tomorrow's markets, creating new partnerships for mutual benefit. as eaDs, its Divisions and subsidiaries - many of which have strong international reputations in their own right - continue to invest and expand globally, we do so with coherent international development action, strategies and policies. We work together with one voice.

,000 EADS order backlog at EUR526,200,000,000 is a platform for further growth in the years ahead. Despite significant acquisitions to extend the company's services portfolio, the net cash position at EUR10.7 billion remains a strong asset for flexibility. FlIgHT pATH To pRoFITABlE gRoWTH. Delivering value for investors is a key priority for EADS, and we strive to honour shareholders' commitment through intensive financial communication and consistent, strong performance. In 2011, EADS shares were by far the best performer of the CAC40 and the second best amongst MDAX stocks, gaining 38%. Despite challenging economic times, EADS has continued to grow in recent years and has improved its performance. While the macroeconomic context has been volatile and the sovereign debt crisis has led to widespread concerns, passenger air traffic has remained resilient. EADS financial performance in 2011 was above expectation, with yearonyear increases in revenues, order intake and underlying profitability. Airbus achieved record delivery figures and a record order intake, driven by exceptional demand for passenger aircraft. Eurocopter benefited from a recovery in the civil helicopter market, increasing both its revenues and EBIT. Major programmes are progressing. The A380 series production is improving. The A400M is advancing towards its first customer delivery. lessons learnt from previous programmes are being applied to the A350 XWB, which remains EADS' major industrial challenge and a focus for the highest management attention. looking to the future, the sovereign debt crisis remains a primary concern, in particular for EADS' governmental businesses. Astrium and Cassidian are running transfor mation and cost reduction programmes in order to adapt, drive innovation and expand in growth markets. In the longer term, EADS expects air travel to continue growing, driven above all by the dynamic emerging mar kets and Asia in particular. Already the Asiapacific region alone accounts for more than a third of commercial aircraft orders on the Airbus backlog. EADS values the support of those who invest in the com pany and who share our positive view of the company's future prospects. EADS Investor Relations and Financial Communication regularly engages with shareholders and prospective investors through newsletters, information meetings and site visits. 08 | People and Opportunities In challenging economic times, jobs are important. But some jobs bring benefits beyond the individual. Nearly 135,000 people work for EADS around the world, and since 2000 we have created much more than 15,000 high-quality jobs in Europe alone. As EADS employees tend to have high qualification levels and valuable skills, those jobs offer real value - for each new job created at EADS, research shows that another is created in a related industry. 15,000 At EADS, we relish opportunities to learn more and offer more people engaged in our world and to perhaps consider a career in aerospace. EADS people all play a role in creating some of the world's biggest success stories, helping to make tomorrow's technology a reality. We value our people, whether they work on the production line or in our research labs, in our global offices or with customers in the field, and we invest in them, and in their futures. And EADS is a truly global company - at home in Europe and around the world - bringing people together from far and wide to create a naturally diverse international culture. We offer our people the chance to grow throughout their career: internships and graduate programmes, improve ment schemes to champion innovation, a network where subject matter experts can propagate ideas, Black Belt training for sharing best practice, and mentoring to encourage people to progress. We're proud to offer a wealth of opportunities to our people, because we're proud of our motivated, enthusiastic, driven workforce.

As the world strives to reduce its impact on the environment, we're making sure we play our part in every way we can. Making the most of resources is key: we are 'building in' recyclability to new aircraft and revolutionising current recycling practices, demonstrating through the services offered by TARMAC AERoSAvE that 85% of aircraft components can be safely reused, recycled or recovered. ECoEFFICIENCy AT THE HEART oF oUR BUSINESS. Algae - a promising source for sustainable biofuel Although the aviation industry currently accounts for only 2%3% of manmade emissions, we know that the world expects us to do everything we can to reduce our contri bution to our footprint on the environment. And we know that as a global company, operating in many different markets with different outlooks and imperatives, we must do business ethically and with respect - for our customers, for burgeoning industries and for local cultures. Conserving the environment is very important, and we are keen to invest in technologies that may in the future help us balance the need to travel with concern for our natural resources. We're making progress with biofuels and have already tested a fuel derived from microalgae, a rich source of energy that does not compete with food pro duction, is a big step towards being carbonneutral - 1.8 tonnes of Co2 is consumed by each tonne of microalgae grown - and has even proved in trials to have a higher energy content than conventional kerosene. We're developing aircraft like the Airbus A350 XWB, which delivers fuel efficiency improvements of up to 25% per seat, and our pioneering flagship, the Airbus A380, uses just 3 litres of fuel per passenger, per 100 km, compared to 5 litres for the average aircraft. Eurocopter has the Bluecopter technology to reduce helicopter environmental impact, while a dieselelectric hybrid concept by EADS Innovation Works could cut fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by up to half. As an industry we have special responsibilities, and they are responsibilities that we take very seriously.

14 | Innovation and Technology INNovATINg FoR REAl SolUTIoNS. The Airbus Concept plane Safe water to drink is one of the most basic needs in life. But supplies can easily be compromised: through flood, disease or terrorist attacks. Worst of all, dangerous bacteria are often impossible to see or taste, leaving people vulnerable. The EADS Bio Sensor, with tiny filtration pores of 450 nanometres, checks water samples for pathogens in just fifteen minutes. What's more, it can auto matically repeat the checks. As a leader in defence and aerospace, EADS must inno vate to stay at the cutting edge. But innovation alone is not enough. our research leads to viable solutions, harnesses creative thinking and explores new ideas to make a real difference to real world problems. problems such as making the world a safer place, creating cleaner, greener, leaner products, or sustaining our way of life while conserving our natural resources. More than 9,500 patents have been filed since EADS was created, and at EADS Innovation Works' research and technology centres around the world, our brightest minds work with thoughtleaders in universities, research institutes and government bodies to develop visionary technologies. Those scientists have developed the laser Ion Mobility Spectrometer or lIMS, an "artificial nose" thirty times more sensitive than that of a dog. The sensor can detect as little as one particle in one trillion of fourteen different explosives, as well as many illegal drugs, dislodged from a person's skin or clothing or from packaging. EADS is also focusing on shaping our industry for the future. Airbus is envisaging the technology of 2050 in its Concept plane project - investigating the possibilities of ultralong, slim wings, semiembedded engines, a Ushaped tail and lightweight intelligent body to further improve environmental performance. And Eurocopter's X3 demonstrator, a hybrid turboprop helicopter, could help solve airport congestion by combining a vertical takeoff and landing capability with high cruise speed. The real world needs practical answers, everyday solutions. EADS will go far beyond the everyday to find them.

22 | Eurocopter In 2005, Eurocopter test pilot Didier Delsalle made history by landing an AS350 B3 helicopter on the summit of Everest. At 8,848 metres it remains the highest landing ever made by a rotarywing aircraft. His feat was by no means simply a publicity stunt - highaltitude rescues are one of many vital missions that Eurocopter helicopters address, like the 2010 airlift of three sick and exhausted Spanish climbers from Nepal's Mount Annapurna in the highestaltitude longline rescue ever made, at some 6,900 metres. SETTINg NEW BENCHMARKS FoR HElICopTERS. Eurocopter is the world's number one civil and parapublic helicopter manufacturer, with a 30% share of the world's fleet. Some 11,300 Eurocopter helicopters are in service in 150 countries around the globe. Eurocopter offers the largest civil and military helicopter range in the world, from the civil EC120 light helicopter to the EC225 Super puma, and from the AS550 C3 Fennec to the indomitable Tiger on the military side. Eurocopter is truly missionready. Eurocopter's reputation for technological excellence is key to its success. just as helicopters allow individuals to accomplish tasks that might otherwise be impossible - rescue far out at sea, transport to remote oil platforms, fast evacuation of casualties - Eurocopter is pushing the boundaries of technology and expectation in order to build the strongest future for the helicopter. Eurocopter's X3 highspeed hybrid helicopter demonstrator marks a new milestone in the company's innovation roadmap. It combines excellent vertical takeoff and landing capabili ties with a fast cruise speed of more than 220 kts. one of the most important challenges for Eurocopter, like all EADS Divisions, is to reduce the impact of its products on the environment. Eurocopter has carried out trials of unmanned helicopter demonstrators and is exploring fuel technology, to improve efficiency and cut emissions. projects to reduce noise, which has such an immediate impact on our lives, include main rotor blades fitted with servoflaps and driven by piezoelectric materials, which have already shown promising results. Eurocopter constantly strives to expand the capabilities of its fleet, always aiming to think without limits and explore the brightest new ideas.
